Like so many of us, riders and spectators alike were left badly shocked by losing one of the sports’ brightest emerging talents - Chris Jones
Chris was only 14 years old but had already demonstrated his huge potential in winning the 2004 MRO 125GP Championship and in tasting victory on the Red Bull Rookies machine at BSB level in 2005; but his tragic death at Cadwell Park stole this talent away from us.
More importantly, he was lost to his parents Pam and Clive, his sister Lucy and beyond. They are bravely continuing with their motorcycle business in Droitwich and have founded the Chris Jones Riders Fund which has already had tremendous support. In association with Steve Brookes who works for Putoline Oil, they have officially launched
the fund to the racing and industry communities to help realise their wish to purchase an image intensifier (mobile x-ray unit). This will allow medics to assess rider injuries and provide immediate diagnosis of fractures, which would also provide accurate detail for hospitals. This piece of kit is expensive - around £100,000.
After agreement with race circuit officials it is now the intention to raise enough funds to purchase the additional much needed emergency equipment to go with the mobile x-ray unit.
You can help by kindly donating spare cash (doesn’t matter how little - as it will help) or by sending the Riders Fund a cheque. ![]()
Please help and lets keep this superb fund moving, for Chris, his family and the future safety of racing.
